fans have rounded on Axel Disasi after his disastrous own goal against in the Carabao Cup. The Blues were already trailing 1-0 courtesy of Alexander Isak's 23rd minute goal, when moments later the Frenchman more than helped the hosts double the advantage.

Isak's deflected cross landed at the feet of the centre-back inside his own six yard box, and he appeared perfectly placed to clear the danger.

However, instead Disasi seemingly got his feet tangled, and contrived to sweep the ball into the net.

Disasi has made just two appearances this season, but was one of raft of changes in Enzo Maresca's starting XI. But his glaring error has caused Chelsea fans to seemingly lose patience with the player having struggled since his £38.5million move from Monaco in August 2023.

"Disasi might be the worst defender in the history of Chelsea," said @CfcSheikh on X. "What is this defending?" @highdee_CFC added: "Whoever scouted and brought Disasi to the club should be fired."

A number of others labelled him Chelsea's worst defender or signing, and @FelixJohnston_ wrote "Axel Disasi... yeah I'm just not gonna say anything. Hope all you gaslighters trying to pretend he was good are happy."

Benoit Badiashille hasn't escaped the wrath either, with @Ziyechman calling the pair the "Worst signings in Chelsea's history." @JesseAMT wrote: "Axel Disasi is the worst player to ever put on a Chelsea shirt ever."

The 26-year-old continued to struggle for the remainder of the half, but Maresca resisted the temptation to hook him off at half-time. Instead, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall was removed in place of Noni Madueke.

Disasi arrived from France with a big repuation, having won five caps for his country and featured in the 2022 in Qatar. He also scored 13 minutes into his league debut in a 1-1 draw with .

In February lasy season, he produced a man of the match performance against in a 1-1 away draw. Disasi made 16 clearances, the most by a Chelsea player in the league in eight seasons.

That display proved a false dawn however. And Disasi continued to be tormented by Isak during the second half as the visitors still trailed 2-0 in the closing stages.
