Police shut down an area of Brussels following a bomb threat on Tuesday afternoon. The threat was reportedly directed at the Cinema Palace. The Beurs, Anneessens and De Brouckère metro stations were also closed by police order and the terraces of several nearby cafes were evacuated.
"It was indeed a bomb threat near the cinema," commissioner Linda Camarero-Verde of the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police zone told Dutch news outlet HLN. The cordon was lifted a few hours later. She continued: "Our teams went to the scene to search people and comb the area. Anspachlaan has now been reopened. Sweeps with sniffer dogs are still underway at the Anneessens and De Brouckère metro stations."
