BBC fans all say same thing minutes into Eurovision 2025 semi-final as they 'get chills'

2025 kicked off the first semi-final of the competition on Tuesday evening (May 13) in Basel, Switzerland. BBC viewers were all saying the same thing as some of this year's most popular contestants prepared to fight for their place in the Grand Final.

Following Nemo's win last year, nations will sing their hearts out including performances from Spain, Sweden, Iceland, and Portugal. A total of 15 songs will be performed, but only 10 will qualify for Saturday's final.

The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest semi-final hosts are Swiss-German comedian, poet and presenter Hazel Brugger and Swiss TV presenter and singer Sandra Struder, who represented Switzerland at Eurovision in 1991.

In Britain, the BBC show is hosted by Rylan Clark and Scott Mills as the pair offer their commentary as exciting performances got underway for the first round of semi finals.

However, within minutes of the show starting, viewers were instantly blown away by the opening performance as Switzerland welcomed the competition "home".

Dancers gathered on stage and captured the culture of Switzerland with an impressive stage design and images.

The dancers kicked off the show with contemporary choreography, and were soon joined by so many more individuals including a person yodeling to many others playing the alphorn.

The dazzling opening productions culminated with an homage to Nemo's winning song The Code.

Eurovision fans were instantly impressed by the grand performance, and wasted no time in taking to social media to share their thoughts.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "I have chills okaaaaayyyyyy #Eurovision."

A second stated: "Horns. Mountains. Yodelling. Then into The Code. This is so Swiss and camp I'm absolutely here for every second. #Eurovision.

While a third chimed in: "Mega opening." Another added: "Alright let's see if this years #Eurovision is better than last year's- the opening act is pretty cool so far."

The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 13th May and Thursday 15th May, airing at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
