India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently recovering from surgery, was recently spotted enjoying Wimbledon 2025 in London with his wife, Devika. Though away from cricket, the star batter was seen soaking in the tennis action from the stands, cheering on the players and experiencing the event live for the first time.
During the tournament, Suryakumar was asked who he would choose as his doubles partner if he ever played a tennis match. Without hesitation, he named former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Explaining his choice, Suryakumar said, "I would like to choose Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has speed and is mentally very strong. When he is not playing cricket, I have seen him playing tennis too."
He also shared his excitement about attending Wimbledon, saying, "I have always heard about the atmosphere of Centre Court. I had watched a little tennis on TV, but coming here and experiencing it live is something else." He added that Novak Djokovic is his favorite tennis player and that reading Djokovic’s book Serve to Win had a big impact on him.
Suryakumar drew a comparison between tennis and cricket, saying, "There are many similarities between an elite tennis player and a top-level cricketer. In cricket, we run 20 to 25 meters repeatedly. Tennis is also similar. In both sports, your mental strength is crucial."
Suryakumar is currently recovering from surgery which he underwent after the IPL 2025 season. He is reportedly recovering well and could be back in action soon. Talks are underway between BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket Board for a possible bilateral series next month, which may include three ODIs and three T20Is. If finalized, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to feature in the squad.
