Are you the type to seek out off-the-beaten-path destinations rather than bustling tourist traps? If so, there's a beach that might just pique your interest, overshadowed by more famous spots yet equally deserving of adoration. While Italy's Portofino is a magnet for tourists, many overlook a hidden slice of paradise along its coast. Visitors insist it is totally "worth it" if you plan on visiting.

This spot is Baia Cannone, nestled among vibrant villas perched atop stunning cliffs. Not only does it feature pristine waters, but it's also completely free to explore. Whether you fancy a luxurious yacht excursion or a simple dip in the turquoise sea, this cove has it all.

A TikTok user recently showcased the cove's allure to her 13,000 followers, highlighting what many miss when they flock to the usual attractions - leaving viewers wowed.

The influencer, known as @leiitravels, urged her audience not to bypass this gem, saying: "I can't believe people visit Portofino, Italy but miss this beach. Save it for your trip to the Italian Riviera."

Her video has since gone viral, racking up more than 1.1 million views, with numerous viewers expressing their awe in the comments section.

One gushed: "So pretty." Another person shared their recent experience, writing: "Visited today, it's worth it."

A third posted: "Excited to visit this place soon. Very beautiful!". Another said: "Such beautiful places that you can visit in Italy. The life is too short to see them all!".

A fourth remarked: "Definitely one of my favourite aesthetic spots." And a fifth added: "Looks like paradise."

Others recommend getting to the spot extra early if you want to beat other tourists there. One suggested: "Super quiet early in the morning, great spot. Back here in 2 weeks."

How to get there

Venture out of Portofino town and along the main road towards Paraggi, where you'll spot a staircase descending to the beach. It's merely a 10-minute stroll from the town centre. Alternatively, hop on the ferry to Baia Cannone for some stunning sea vistas.

The prime time for a jaunt to Baia Cannone is late spring or September. You'll be treated to balmy weather ideal for a dip, plus you'll sidestep the peak summer crowds.

While most drop by for a day trip, why not stay over? A sea-view flat or villa could be just the ticket.

You'll find a selection of accommodation options nearby, mostly in the four and five-star bracket. Notable hotels include Hotel Piccolo Portofino, Hotel Argentina, and Hotel Eden.
