The Summer I Turned Pretty teases its endgame with a reference to classic film

The trailer of the third and final season of Amazon Prime’s is finally out, and the internet hasn’t stopped talking about it. Fan theories are building momentum as some think the promotional poster might be hinting at another love triangle between continuing her relationship with Jeremiah or going back to her first love, Conrad. But who will she choose? Fans think they already know.

As fans await between pursuing her with Jeremiah or giving it a last chance with Conrad, fans have figured out who she will choose based on the promo poster that resembles a classicmovie.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is making its big return this summer after a year. For those needing a refresher (spoiler alert), Belly Conklin (played by actress Lola Tung), makes a pivotal decision between the Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

After an emotional journey of personal growth, Belly ultimately chooses Jeremiah in the final of series two. The last scene of the second season shows the start of the couple's relationship, with Conrad accepting his loss and deciding to walk away to Cousins Beach.

The teaser trailer for Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty shows a glimpse of Belly’s happy relationship with Jeremiah. Set to ’s songs Daylight and Red (Taylor’s Version), the romance is then disturbed by Conrad’s unexpected return, complicating Belly’s emotions - again.

The season is based on Jenny Han’s final book in the bestselling trilogy, We’ll Always Have Summer. It follows Belly at the end of her junior year at college, facing adulthood and her romance between the two siblings. But did The Summer I Turned Pretty just tease its endgame couple?

To announce the show’s premiere, which is July 16, 2025, Prime Video dropped an image of Belly being kissed on her cheek by Jeremiah, as Conrad looks at him while standing next to her.

Whether it was intentional or not, fans couldn’t stop pointing out the similarities to Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 movie, Sabrina. A fan wrote: “Posting as well because the layers of this go CRAZY!! The Summer I Turned Pretty poster is literally based off of ‘Sabrina’ (1954). Not only did they watch it at the drive in [season 1], but... who is on the left… is who Sabrina ends the film with,” with a second user replying: “Yeah, it was a dead giveaway.”

Posting the two images from Aubrey Hepburn’s film Sabrina and the teaser poster of The Summer I Turn Pretty, another fan said: “Yup. Looks about right.”

A fourth fan reacted: "The songs are cherry on top," with another one commenting: "Y'all knew to put the real [relation]ship at the end."

Interestingly, in Season 1 of the series, Belly watched an Audrey Hepburn movie. In episode four, titled ‘Summer House’, Belly and Conrad watched Roman Holiday.

The scene marked a significant part of their relationship as it deepened their connection. There have also been small references to the character throughout the seasons, such as Belly’s black dress reminiscing Audrey’s iconic look in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

But for now that’s all speculation. Fans will have to wait until the show airs in July to find out who Belly ends up choosing, once and for all, when The Summer I Turn Pretty returns for its final season.
