Despite Melania's penchant for "power dressing," such as in a slick two-piece suit on stage, Darren reveals she actually "doesn't want to be there" and "doesn't like the limelight." Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Darren told The : "With Melania, there’s still a reluctance from her. She smiles on stage but it appears to be a fake smile. She’s smiling because she has to, rather than instinctual.
"There was very little reciprocal liking, there was very little tacitness, no hugs, or being really close to each other, they’re pretty distant with no obvious signs of affection. He paid tribute to her, and she cracked a genuine smile then, but there is a distance between them which is clear.
"Their willingness to connect isn’t quite there, and we’ve seen this a lot at events they’ve attended together. It just feels odd the fact they weren’t standing right next to each other."
Darren continued: "When Trump looks back at Melania and gestures to her to come over for a hug, she reluctantly comes forward and gives him a hug, but there’s no closeness here. It’s very disjointed and awkward, and there’s no emotion from her.
"We don’t see any genuine smiles from Melania, it feels like a smile she has adopted for the occasion. There’s not the level of emotion you’d expect given her husband has just been elected president. It’s all quite contrived, she’s just reluctant to show any emotion, there’s no real happiness or joy. There’s always an awkwardness with Melania."
He added: "The shot of Trump going to kiss her shows a real disparity in emotion. If you look at Melania, most people would reciprocate. There’s no emotion coming from her, they are husband and wife, but it feels like a false greeting.
"Her head’s up which is almost like a gesture of defiance, she is reluctant to reciprocate the action. There’s no passion, she doesn’t want to be there and doesn’t like showing emotion towards him, but instead prefers to maintain her own composure. He is doing all the work here."
