Film fans have gotten their first look at Sydney Sweeney in an upcoming sensual thriller that is based on a bestselling novel with 'so many twists'.
One of the hottest names in Hollywood, Sweeney is set to appear in The Housemaid, an adaptation of the novel published in 2022 by Freida McFadden. Sweeney will feature alongside Amanda Seyfried, known for roles in Mamma Mia, Mean Girls and more recently the TV show Long Bright River.
Also included in the stacked cast is Yellowstone spin-off 1923 and It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar plus Italian actor Michele Morrone, who appeared in Another Simple Favor. Paul Feig is directing, who previously helmed Bridesmaids, 2016's Ghostbusters and Prime Video release Jackpot!

However, this title should be something quite different from Feig's comedy roots. According to the synopsis, the film's story follows Millie (Sweeney), a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar), However, she soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.
Now, the studio behind the movie have released a set of new images. They give a glimpse of what film fans can expect when the movie releases.
One image sees Seyfried's character appearing to leer over Sweeney's shoulder, only visible in the mirror as she cleans the bathroom.
Another sees her being mysteriously holding up a key, which notably seems to acknowledge the original book's cover art.
It has been said like that many film adaptations, there could be some changes made from the source material. But for those who enjoyed the book, the film's director and stars have already spoken out to calm any concerns they may have.

A review of the novel on Goodreads praised the story with "so many twists".
"So many twists, turns and surprises!" they wrote. "It’s written so well that you are completely bought into the story and then BANG shock after shock! It’s also got a brief bit of sauciness for those who like a guilty pleasure! I loved everything about this book and will be getting the sequel for sure!"
This is something that director Feig has alluded to when praising his leading stars' performances.
He said: "They (Sweeney and Seyfried) both slipped into these challenging roles effortlessly and took full ownership of them. We couldn't have had a better time together making this movie. The Housemaid is pure entertainment – a sexy and surprising rollercoaster ride of a movie that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats."
Seyfried added: "The film captures everything fans loved about the book — the secrets, the tension and the twists. We can't wait for audiences to immerse themselves in the experience."
The Housemaid is in cinemas from December 26.
