David Beckham has made a supportive gesture towards his son Brooklyn Beckham this week. The public support comes following rumours of tension between the retired footballer and his eldest child in recent months.
The speculation was fuelled by reports that Brooklyn, 26, was absent from a 50th birthday party for David, 50, earlier this year and he is thought to have missed other family celebrations. There has been an apparent 'olive branch' on social media since though amid hopes for reconciliation.
David showed his support for his eldest son this week by liking a post that featured a video of 'aspiring chef' Brooklyn making spaghetti carbonara. It comes after David ditched his iconic tiny trunks on yacht trip with Gordon Ramsay's family.

Brooklyn shared the video with his followers on Instagram yesterday. The post has amassed more than 650,000 views on the platform since it was uploaded and his father David is among the 12,000 likes.
Although met with support, Brooklyn also faced criticism over the carbonara recipe tutorial this week, with some viewers having suggested that he had burnt the guanciale. Chef Aldo Zilli evenwaded in amid reaction last night.
Brooklyn however included a note about the guanciale in the comments section of his post. Dismissing the idea that he had burned the cured meat whilst preparing the dish, he wrote to fans in a comment: "Guanciale has a lot of sugar in that's why it's darker. I slow cooked it so it's not burned."
David's support over his son's post comes following rumours of a rift between Brooklyn and his parents. Brooklyn's been spending time with his in-laws instead and it was recently teased that the two families narrowly avoided running into each other whilst on separate holidays in France.

Brooklyn's parents David and Victoria Beckham, 51, who has been liking some of her son's posts lately, were spotted on a yacht whilst on the holiday with family and friends. They are understood to have been joined by their younger kids Romeo Beckham, 22, Cruz Beckham, 20, and Harper Beckham, 14, on the vacation.
Instead, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, were seen enjoying a trip abroad with her family last month. It comes following speculation earlier this year that Brooklyn hasn't really felt "like he fits into" his own family lately.
Last month, amid Brooklyn's trip, it was reported that Sir Elton John, 78, has acted as "peacemaker" for the family. He's said to have caught up with his godson Brooklyn and his wife Nicola over lunch in Cannes whilst they were away.
A source told the Sun: "[Elton's] utterly neutral in this row." They added: "Elton and [his husband David Furnish] think the situation is terribly sad, and has gently suggested to all involved that life is short - and to patch things up."
The group still had a "really fun long lunch" though, according to the source. They told the outlet: "Besides a very brief chat on the subject that dare rear its name, they discussed loads of other, much more lighthearted matters."
