BBC's The One Show halted as Alex Jones issues important announcement

BBC's The One Show took a pause tonight for an important announcement following an intense interview about a "horrific" event that has left a mark on history.

On Wednesday night (April 23) presenters Alex Jones and JB Gill were joined by actors Max Beesley and Edison Alcaide on their iconic green sofa. The duo appear in the new Disney+ series Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes.

The forthcoming four-part drama, which will debut on the streaming service on April 30, dramatises the tragic story of Brazilian Jean Charles De Menezes, who was tragically killed after being misidentified as a terrorist in the aftermath of the 2005 London bombings. The bombings on July 7 claimed the lives of 52 individuals and injured 770 others.

Edison, a fresh face in the acting , takes on the role of Menezes in what marks his first-ever screen appearance. The series also stars Game Of Thrones' Conleth Hill as the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, and Being Human's Russell Tovey as his deputy assistant commissioner Brian Paddick.

Max, who steps into the shoes of assistant commissioner Andy Hayman, recounted to The One Show audience his own experience on the day of the actual bombings, reports .

He recalled: "I remember where I was on the day, we were meant to do a read-through of a show at 9, and the producers said let's start at 8.30 so we were on the infrastructure going into the workplace an hour earlier than we would have been."

"All of us were on that infrastructure and it was terrifying hearing the sirens at 9.30 and think what the heck is going on and of course we learned now what a tragedy that was."

"I think everybody remembers where they were, don't they?" host Alex Jones interjected.

Following the conclusion of the interview, the show took an unexpected turn as Alex immediately addressed the camera, imparting a crucial message for the audience.
