Mumbai: A 34-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and six others were hospitalised after a fire broke out early Saturday morning in Broke Land Building, a residential structure located near Ashok Academy Lane in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West). The fire erupted around 2:39 a.m. and was reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at approximately 6:37 a.m.
According to fire officials, the blaze was confined to Room No. 104 on the first floor of the ground plus eight-storey residential building. The fire affected electric wiring, electric installations, split and window AC units, wooden furniture, documents, mattresses, clothes, and other household items.
Rescue Operations and Injuries:
According to the latest update, a total of seven people suffered smoke inhalation during the incident. They were promptly rescued by firefighters and transported to nearby hospitals, including Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Cooper Hospital, and Trauma Hospital, using a mix of private vehicles and 108 emergency ambulances.
Injury Report:
The injured individuals were taken to Kokilaben Hospital. They have been identified as follows: Aparna Gupta (F/41), Daya Gupta (M/21), Rihan Gupta (M/3), and Pradumna Gupta (M/10 days). All of them were suffocated due to smoke inhalation and are currently admitted to the ICU.
Abhina Kartik Sanjanvalia (F/34) also suffered from smoke suffocation and was declared dead on arrival by the hospital's Resident Medical Officer (RMO). Kartik Sanjanvalia (M/40), who also experienced smoke inhalation, has been admitted to the ICU at Cooper Hospital. Polam Gupta (M/40) – Suffocated from smoke inhalation; treated in the casualty ward and discharged after observation in Trauma Hospital
Investigation Underway:
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. Fire brigade officials have confirmed that the situation is now under control. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
