Is mosquito cream safe for babies? The terror of mosquitoes increases a lot during the rainy season. At the same time, mosquitoes bring with them dangerous diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Especially small children fall prey to these diseases quickly. In such a situation, every parent wants their child to be completely safe from mosquitoes. For this, many people use cream or spray to protect their children from mosquitoes. But is this method correct? Should Mosquito Cream be applied to small children? Let's know the opinion of experts about this.

What do experts say?
Pediatrician Puneet Anand has shared a video on his Instagram handle regarding the matter. In this video, the pediatrician explains that it is very important to keep 5 things in mind before applying any cream to protect small children from mosquitoes.
Number 1- Do not apply any cream for 3 months.
The doctor says that if the child is less than 3 months old, do not use DEET or Picaridin-based cream or spray on his skin. At such a young age, these chemicals can have a bad effect on the body. Instead, use a mosquito net or make the child wear light, full-body covering clothes.
Number 2- Do not apply creams containing essential oils
Many people think that natural things like eucalyptus or citronella oil are safe for children, but doctors say that these oil-based creams should not be applied to children younger than 3 years. This can cause allergies or skin irritation.
Number 3- Do not apply cream on the face
Cream should never be applied on the face, especially near the eyes, nose, or mouth. If the child's skin is cut or has rashes, then avoid applying cream on that place as well.
Number 4- Do not apply cream on children's hands
Children often put their hands in their mouths. In such a situation, if you have applied mosquito cream on their hands, then it can go into their mouth, which can increase the problem.
Number 5- Do a skin test first
Apart from all this, before applying any cream directly on the entire body, first apply it on a small area and test it. If there is irritation, rash, or itching, clean the cream immediately.
What is the safe way to protect children from mosquitoes?
Dr. Anand says it is important to protect children from mosquitoes, but the method should also be safe. To protect very young children from mosquitoes, make them sleep in a mosquito net. At the same time, wear light and full-body covering clothes during the day. Apart from all this, maintain an environment around children that keeps mosquitoes away. Like- take care of cleanliness, do not let water accumulate, etc. Apart from all this, before using any cream or spray, definitely consult a doctor.
