The second day of the second Test match between India and England is over. India's first innings were all out for 587 on the second day, and India got off to a good start by taking three wickets of England. However, Harry Brook and Joe Root took charge of England by sharing 52 runs for the fourth wicket. By the end of the day's play, England had scored 77 runs for three wickets in the first innings and were still trailing India by 510 runs. At the time of stumps, Brook was at the crease with 30 and Root with 18 runs.

Akash Deep gave double success to the Indian team, which came out to play without Jasprit Bumrah. He gave early blows to England by taking two wickets in two consecutive balls. Akash first dismissed Ben Duckett by getting caught by Shubman Gill and then sent Ollie Pope to the pavilion on the very next ball. Duckett and Pope were out without opening the account. After this, Mohammad Siraj gave the third blow to England by dismissing Jack Crawley. Crawley was dismissed after scoring 19 runs with the help of three fours in 30 balls.
India's first innings
India's first innings was all out for 587 runs on the second day of the second Test match against England. Captain Shubman Gill performed brilliantly for India and scored 269 runs. Apart from Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored half-centuries, which helped India score a big score against England. Shoaib Bashir took three wickets for England, while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue took two wickets each. At the same time, Brydon Cars, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root got one wicket each.
India took the innings forward from 310 runs for five wickets on the second day. Gill and Jadeja batted brilliantly for India and added 203 runs for the sixth wicket. This partnership was broken by Josh Tongue by dismissing Jadeja. Jadeja returned to the pavilion after scoring 89 runs. After this, Gill took the innings forward with Washington Sundar and scored the first double century of his career. Before the tea break, India suffered the seventh blow in the form of Sundar. Sundar returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs.

After the tea break, Gill could not take the innings forward for long and was out as the eighth batsman. When Gill was out, India's score was 574 runs. India lost its next two wickets at an interval of 13 runs. For India, Akash Deep was out after scoring six runs, and Mohammad Siraj was out after scoring eight runs. Prasidh Krishna returned unbeaten after scoring five runs.
