Add these spices to green tea to fix headaches naturally

Send Push
Green tea is well-known for its antioxidants and calming properties, but when you enhance it with specific spices, it transforms into a natural remedy for headaches. These spices not only add flavor but also bring anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and circulation-boosting benefits that can tackle different types of headaches from tension to sinus to migraine.

Why Green tea?

Green tea contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation, and caffeine, which can help reduce the size of blood vessels around the brain, often responsible for headache pain. Its antioxidants also reduce inflammation and oxidative stress that are two of the major headache triggers.

Ginger
Ginger has been used for centuries to combat headaches, especially migraines. It blocks prostaglandins—chemicals that trigger muscle contractions and inflammation in blood vessels. Add a few slices of fresh ginger or ¼ tsp of ginger powder to your green tea to relieve nausea and headache pain naturally.

Turmeric
Turmeric’s active compound curcumin is a strong anti-inflammatory agent. In many headaches, especially those caused by sinus pressure or chronic inflammation, turmeric helps reduce swelling and pressure. A pinch of turmeric in your green tea can enhance its healing powers.

Black Pepper
Black pepper may not directly relieve headaches, but it increases the absorption of curcumin in turmeric by up to 2000%. It also stimulates circulation, which helps oxygen flow more freely to the brain—a common headache remedy in Ayurveda. Just a small pinch is enough.

Cardamom
Cardamom has calming, antispasmodic effects that help relax muscles and nerves. If your headache is tension-related, this spice can soothe your nerves and reduce discomfort. Crush one pod and steep it with your tea leaves.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon improves blood flow, which is crucial in reducing vascular headaches and migraines. Its warm nature helps reduce cold-induced headaches and sinus blockages. Add a small stick or ½ tsp powder to your green tea while it brews.

Add a few drops of lemon or honey
Lemon helps detoxify and reduce pressure in the head, while honey adds natural sweetness and further anti-inflammatory benefits. Both enhance the taste and healing properties of the tea.

How to make headache reducing tea
1 cup water, 1 green tea bag or 1 tsp loose leaves, ¼ tsp grated ginger, a pinch of turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, 1 crushed cardamom pod
