Fans who missed War 2 in theatres—or those eager to rewatch the high-octane action on their own screens—won’t have to wait much longer. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War may not have lived up to sky-high expectations at the box office, but it’s gearing up for its big digital debut. With Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani leading the charge, the film promises another shot at winning audiences on OTT.
When and where to stream the movie?
According to TOI, War 2 will be streaming on Netflix. While the makers haven’t revealed the official date yet, industry trends suggest its OTT premiere could happen six to eight weeks after its theatrical release. That puts the expected window somewhere between September 25 and October 9, 2025.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, War 2 is the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. Written by Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala from an original story by Chopra, the film was mounted on a staggering budget of Rs 300–400 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
The movie follows Kabir Dhaliwal (Hrithik Roshan), a former RAW agent turned rogue, who poses a massive threat to national security. To stop him, special unit officer Vikram Chelapathi (played by Jr NTR in his Hindi debut) is brought into action, setting the stage for an intense showdown. Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor also play key roles in the narrative.
War 2 Box office collections
War 2 was released on August 14, 2025, around the Independence Day weekend and it opened to mixed-to-negative reviews. While critics praised the star performances, breathtaking action sequences, and cinematography, the film’s story, direction, and visual effects faced heavy criticism. Despite the polarised response, it went on to gross Rs 347.50 crore worldwide, with Rs 271.50 crore from India, making it the fourth-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 and the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film overall.
