While artificial intelligence may have helped job candidates make their resumes picture-perfect, it also made applicants pretty indistinguishable from each other. In world saturated with digital uniformity, some candidates distinguish themselves by going above and beyond. Recently, Saptarshi Prakash, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Design at Swiggy, expressed his surprise and admiration for a young professional who took an unconventional route: sending a handwritten letter through the postal service.
Based in Bengaluru, Prakash shared his experience on LinkedIn, highlighting that this unique method proved effective. He posted, “Received a physical letter from a designer wishing to join Swiggy with a concept,” along with images of the letter. In the correspondence, the job applicant presented a new idea they believed could improve the user experience on the Swiggy app. Their enthusiasm shone through as they wrote, “I would be thrilled to have the chance to present this to you and the team if given the opportunity… What I truly desire is just one chance to express myself and showcase my work to you.”
Although Prakash noted that Swiggy currently has no available positions in UX/UI design, he encouraged the candidate to send the concept via email. He stated, “While we don’t have a suitable role for you at Swiggy right now, I’ve certainly recognized your initiative… I would also love to take a look at the concept you’ve created. Could you please send me an email? I’m sure you’ll find my email address—you managed to find my physical one!” he added on LinkedIn.
Prakash's post quickly captured attention online, racking up over 40,000 views on X. Users on social media praised the jobseeker's creativity and resolve, with one commenter saying, “In this day and age, anyone using paper and a physical medium is refreshing. Bookmark it!” Another user commended the designer’s innovative thinking, stating, “This designer can think of alternative methods that truly break the mold.”
Another user exclaimed, “This is incredible!” reflecting the surprise and admiration shared by many.
