The All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) has declared that workers are willing to work overtime without any demand for extra pay to aid the war effort. In a statement issued Friday, Shiv Gopal Mishra, General secretary AIRF said Railway staffers have historically supported India’s wars by ensuring any damaged infrastructure is immediately repaired and trains run uninterrupted.
“Railway workers stand with the nation. We will work overtime without asking for additional pay if the need arises,” Mishra said.
He said there have been talks between Unions and the Railway Board regarding contingency measures if the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict escalates.
Mishra said Railway staffers have assured full support in any situation to support the country. “The Railways is India’s second line of defence,” he said while adding there will be no interruptions in supply chains.
