B R Naidu, recently appointed chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, announced his intention to establish a Hindu-only workforce at Tirumala, the sacred temple of Lord Venkateswara. "Everyone who works at Tirumala should be Hindu," Naidu said in a statement on Thursday.
"That would be my first effort. There are many issues in this. We have to look into that," he continued, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the religious integrity of Tirumala’s operations.
Naidu plans to consult with the Andhra Pradesh government to determine the next steps, which could involve reassigning non-Hindu employees to other government roles or offering them a Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS).
Expressing Gratitude and Commitment
Expressing deep gratitude, Naidu thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders of the state’s NDA government for the opportunity to serve in this role. As an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara, he described his appointment as "a privilege" and shared his commitment to upholding the sanctity of the temple.
Naidu pledged to execute his duties with honesty and transparency, emphasizing that he views his responsibility at the TTD as both a personal honor and a professional mission.
Addressing Alleged Irregularities
In his remarks, Naidu touched on the need to correct irregularities he claims took place under the prior YSR Congress administration. His statements reflect a strong focus on reforming past practices to protect Tirumala's sanctity. "The sanctity of the temple should be safeguarded," he asserted, signaling his intent to approach any challenges with dedication to preserving the religious values and integrity of the TTD’s administration.
TTD Board Restructuring and New Members
The Andhra Pradesh government recently announced a new 24-member TTD Board responsible for overseeing the operations of the renowned Tirumala temple. The TTD Board, which manages one of India's most famous pilgrimage sites, was reconstituted on Wednesday, and Naidu was selected to lead as chairman.
Alongside Naidu, the newly appointed board includes prominent business leaders, such as Suchitra Ella, co-founder and managing director of Bharat Biotech International Ltd.
