Chiranjeevi touches Amitabh Bachchan's feet at awards ceremony, netizens rejoice seeing 'ABC' of Indian cinema together

On Monday, October 28, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan presented the esteemed Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) National Award to Telugu actor Chiranjeevi in Hyderabad. This event celebrated the centenary of Telugu cinema legend Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), who was also the father of actor Nagarjuna.

A video from the ceremony captured the moment when 82-year-old Amitabh handed a shawl and trophy to 69-year-old Chiranjeevi. Overcome with emotion, Chiranjeevi bent down before Amitabh and touched his feet to seek his blessings. Following the award presentation, the star of Waltair Veerayya posed for a photograph on stage alongside Nagarjuna and Amitabh.

Nagarjuna announced the event on X. He tweeted, "This year is extra special as we celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of my father, ANR garu! Honoured to invite @SrBachchan ji and Megastar @KChiruTweets garu to the ANR Awards 2024 to mark this milestone! Let’s make this award function unforgettable! @AnnapurnaStdios #ANRLivesOn #ANRNationalAward #ANR100Years (sic)."

Amitabh Bachchan dropped a picture of himself posing with Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna and wrote, “An evening filled with emotion and nostalgia .. as the family and the Industry pay homage to ANR Nageswara Rao on his 100th birth anniversary... My immense gratitude to Nag for making me a part of the evening.AND CHIRANJEEVI garu .. my great honour to present you with the ANR Award.”

The picture and the video went viral on X and many fans got emotional at seeing their idols together. “glad to see you all again on one stage BigB sir..” wrote on X user. “Legends in a frame.” read another comment. Another wrote, "AB & C of Indian Cinema. What a way to present that !?? Two #Megastars on the stage with KING!!"

The ANR Award, established in 2005 by the Akkineni International Foundation, honors exceptional achievements in Indian cinema. Amitabh Bachchan was a recipient of the award in 2014. Other notable awardees include Dev Anand, Lata Mangeshkar, SS Rajamouli, Hema Malini, Shyam Benegal, Sridevi B Kapoor, Rekha, Shabana Azmi, Anjali Devi, Vyjayanthimala Bali, and Balachander.

In other news, Chiranjeevi is set to appear in the upcoming fantasy film Vishwambhara, which is scheduled for release on January 10, 2025.
