Salman Khan recently admitted that the lack of industry support for his movie ‘Sikander’ has left him saddened. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the superstar said that there’s a misconception that he doesn’t need any support or encouragement.
When asked how he felt about not receiving any support from colleagues for ‘Sikander’ despite going out of his way to support other people’s films, the ‘Dabangg’ actor said, “ Unko aisa lagta hoga ki zaroorat nahin padti mujhe. (Maybe they think that I don’t need their support.)" However, he quickly added, “But , sabko zaroorat padti hai. (Everybody needs support, including me.)"
Khan then turned his attention to films that have either recently hit theaters or are on the verge of release, reaffirming his unwavering support for fellow actors in the industry. He extended his best wishes to Sunny Deol for his upcoming action-packed entertainer, Jaat, which is slated to premiere on April 10, 2025. Additionally, he acknowledged the remarkable success of L2: Empuraan, the much-anticipated Malayalam sequel featuring the legendary Mohanlal and filmmaker-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film, which made its theatrical debut just two days before the release of Sikandar, has already begun shattering box office records.
A particularly notable aspect of the promotional efforts surrounding Sikandar is that Sunny Deol emerged as the only major Bollywood celebrity to openly endorse the film. He took to social media to share a supportive message, publicly championing Salman’s latest venture. While Aamir Khan did engage in a promotional initiative alongside Salman and Sikandar’s director, AR Murugadoss, by participating in a collaborative video, the overall response from the wider film fraternity has been rather lukewarm. The conspicuous absence of industry-wide encouragement has not gone unnoticed by fans and observers alike.
Despite being panned by critics and facing stiff competition from the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Empuraan’, ‘Sikander’ is going strong at the box-office. As per a report by box-office tracking portal Sacnilk, the movie has earned Rs 136 crore globally so far.
Directed by A. Murugadoss (best known for helming the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Ghajini’), ‘Sikander also features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles.
