Ride-hailing platform Uber on Wednesday introduced ' Uber for Teens' in India, a service designed to provide safe and reliable transportation for teenagers aged 13 to 17 years.
The service has been rolled out in 37 cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata. It incorporates multiple safety features, such as GPS tracking, real-time ride monitoring, and an in-app emergency button to enhance security for both teenagers and their parents.
A key aspect of Uber for Teens is parental oversight. Parents can create a dedicated account for their teenagers, allowing them to monitor rides in real time, receive detailed trip summaries, and even request rides on behalf of their children.
“We recognise the unique transportation challenges faced by teenagers and their families in India. With Uber for Teens, we are committed to addressing these challenges by providing a service that parents can trust and that teens will find easy and cool to use,” said Prabhjeet Singh, president, Uber India and South Asia.
According to a recent Uber survey, 92% of parents in India have struggled to find reliable transport for their teenagers, with 72% citing safety as their primary concern.
