Washington [US], April 9 (ANI): The much-awaited 'Dune: Messiah' might have a new star joining the cast, as actor Robert Pattinson is said to be in talks to play the main villain in the next chapter of the Dune series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say that the role he is eyeing is likely to be Scytale, a mysterious character from Frank Herbert's original book, though nothing has been confirmed yet. The Batman and Twilight actor has not received an official offer yet.
Pattinson already has a busy schedule with The Batman 2 and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.'
The Odyssey follows the Greek champion Odysseus on his tumultuous journey home after the Trojan War. The story was first written by the ancient Greek poet Homer over 2,000 years ago and remains one of the oldest stories still enjoyed by modern readers.
Meanwhile, director Denis Villeneuve, who helmed both Dune and Dune: Part Two, is known for bringing big stars to his films. The previous Dune movies featured stars like Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa.
Dune: Messiah is based on Frank Herbert's 1969 novel and takes place 12 years after the events of the first Dune. Paul Atreides is now Emperor and married to Princess Irulan, while continuing his relationship with Chani.
Filming for Dune: Messiah is expected to start this summer, with the movie set for release on December 18, 2026. Villeneuve has stated that this will be his last Dune film before he moves on to other projects. (ANI)
