Xiaomi ’s debut into high-performance vehicles took a historic turn as its SU7 Ultra prototype became the fastest four-door car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife, clocking in at 6 minutes, 46.87 seconds. This achievement sees Xiaomi’s super-saloon surpass the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT ’s previous record of 7 minutes, 7.55 seconds, set earlier in August. However, while this feat is notable, it doesn’t qualify as an official production record since the lap was achieved using a pre-production prototype .

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype, equipped with three electric motors delivering a combined output of 1,527 hp, claims a lightning-quick 0-100 kmph acceleration in just under 2 seconds, with a top speed of 350 kmph. Xiaomi plans to bring a production-ready version of the SU7 Ultra to the same track in 2025 to secure an official record.

Though only available in China for now, Xiaomi’s SU7 lineup spans three models, with the SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max offering ranges of up to 830 km on a single charge. Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra pushes the limits of electric sedans , and its record-setting Nürburgring time signals big ambitions. Though still a prototype, the Ultra’s performance shows Xiaomi’s potential to compete with top names like Porsche in the EV arena.

Although Xiaomi is largely recognized for its smartphones, the company stepped into China’s booming EV market in March with the standard SU7, a model that has gained attention for its Porsche-inspired design and accessible price tag of under $30,000.
