Jeep Meridian facelift vs Tata Safari: Price, variants, features, specs compared

Jeep India recently launched the new and updated 2025 Jeep Meridian SUV in the Indian market. The facelifted model gets minor cosmetic changes, additional features, and new variants and is also offered with a 5-seater configuration. The Meridian continues to compete with the Mahindra XUV 700 , Tata Safari , Volkswagen Taigun , Skoda Kushaq and Toyota Fortuner.


In this article, let’s compare the new Jeep Meridian with the Tata Safari in terms of dimensions, variants, pricing, features, engine and gearbox options.

Comparing the price and variants, the 2025 Jeep Meridian is offered in four variants - Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O) and Overland with prices ranging from Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 36.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The refreshed Meridian is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater options, resulting in a significant reduction in the starting price by Rs 6.24 lakh. The entry-level Longitude trim is offered only as a 5-seater, while all other variants get both seating options.


The Tata Safari is offered in ten trim variants - Smart(O), Pure (O), Adventure, Adventure+, Adventure+ Dark, Accomplished, Accomplished Dark, Accomplished+ Dark, Adventure+ A, and Accomplished+. The Safari is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 26.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

Comparing the dimensions, the Meridian measures 4769 mm in length, 1859 mm in width, 1698 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2782 mm. The Safari on the other hand measures 4668 mm in length, 1894 mm in width, 1786 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2741 mm.


In terms of features, the new Meridian gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 9-speaker Alpine audio system, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats.



Safety-wise, it gets a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, six airbags, hill hold assist, traction control, TPMS, electric parking brake, and Level 2 ADAS features which include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning lane keep assist and a lot more.


Talking about the features in Safari, it gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, touch-based panel for the HVAC controls, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new four-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo, drive selector with a digital display, dual-zone climate control, ventilated first and second-row seats, a 10-speaker JBL-tuned sound system, rear window shades, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof and more. In terms of safety, it gets 7 airbags, ADAS, hill hold control, three-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers and more.


Talking about the powertrain, both SUVs are powered by the same Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine which puts out 170hp of power and 350Nm of torque. The Safari is offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic and gets 4x2. The Meridian on the other hand gets a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic. The Meridian gets both 4x2 and 4x4 options.
