Bengaluru-based EV startup Emobi Manufacturing has debuted the AKX Commuter, an electric two-wheeler designed for both B2B applications and personal commuting, specifically catering to delivery riders and urban riders . While the official price is yet to be confirmed, Emobi has indicated an expected range of Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000, ex-showroom. So, what features come with that price tag? Let’s take a quick look.
In terms of design, it looks pretty much how an electric last-mile delivery -oriented commuter should look. It gets a round headlamp cluster, features a flat, wide footboard, handle-bar mounted round RVMs, with forward-set footpegs. The AKX LS is a low-speed version specifically created for gig workers and last-mile delivery personnel.

It comes with two battery choices: a 1.5 kWh LFP battery option, delivering a range of up to 75 km, while the larger 2.3 kWh NMC battery provides a range of 120 km on a single charge, as per the company’s claims. Besides that, the manufacturer also says that it is equipped with a fast-charging system that can fully recharge the batteries in just 30 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime.

As for hardware, the AKX gets telescopic forks in the front, dual shock absorbers for the rear, drum brakes on both wheels. Well, in terms of features it gets geo-fencing, live tracking, USB charging, LED headlight and tail lamp with halogen turn indicators, SOC indicator and an analogue cluster.
Interestingly, the use case of this compact two-wheeler goes beyond commuting. The AKX’s battery can double as a home power backup. In partnership with Livaah Innovations, the company has made the battery compatible with the former’s solar hybrid inverters , allowing it to be charged via solar energy and serve as an alternative power source during outages.
