In 2018, actor Alok Nath was accused by producer Vinta Nanda during the #MeToo movement, with charges later filed for alleged r**e. In response, Alok Nath filed a defamation case against Nanda.
While the verdict in that matter remains unavailable to the public, he now finds himself linked to another legal controversy alongside actor Shreyas Talpade.

Recent reports indicate that Alok Nath and Shreyas Talpade are among 24 individuals named in a fraud case registered in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint, filed by a local resident, alleges that villagers were lured into investing in a cooperative society, The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited, with promises of substantial profits. Agents reportedly visited rural areas, assuring villagers that their investments would double in a short period.
Investigations suggest that after collecting significant amounts from the villagers, the cooperative abruptly ceased operations, leaving investors empty-handed. Both Nath and Talpade were associated with the society as brand ambassadors, and their involvement, along with 22 others, is under scrutiny by authorities.
A tweet by ANI stated, “Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh | A case has been filed against Bollywood actors Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath, along with 22 others. The complainant alleges fraud in the name of investment in the Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society. Bollywood actors Shreyas Talpade and Alok Nath were brand ambassadors of this society. The case was filed at the city police station based on a complaint from Babli, a resident of Baghpat.”

This is not the first time the two actors have been linked to financial controversies; earlier, they, along with 11 others, were named in a multi-level marketing fraud case in Sonipat, Haryana. In July 2025, the Supreme Court granted Shreyas Talpade interim protection from arrest while the investigation continues.
On the professional front, Shreyas Talpade is gearing up for his upcoming film Single Salma, while Alok Nath continues to be remembered fondly for his iconic roles as the elder or ‘Babuji’ in Bollywood films. Police investigations into the cooperative society are ongoing, with further updates expected as the case develops.
