MS Dhoni & Ravindra Jadeja talk as they stand for National Anthem

Send Push

Match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is being played at Eden Gardens on May 7—a day when the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

To honour the Indian Armed Forces for their strike on terrorist camps following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, the BCCI had everyone stand for the Indian national anthem. While many appreciated the gesture, some were upset by what transpired at the stadium.

'Dhoni, Dhoni' chants echo

As commentators requested everyone to stand for the national anthem, chants of "Dhoni, Dhoni" broke out in the otherwise silent stadium, frustrating many users on X (formerly Twitter).

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja seen talking

Adding to the controversy, fans noticed that MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were talking even after the national anthem had started. However, they immediately stopped once the camera panned toward them.

Dewald Brevis caught stretching

The young CSK batter was also seen stretching during the anthem but quickly stopped after realizing the camera was on him and becoming aware of the solemnity of the moment.
