CSK are casting their net into the future with a debut for young Urvil Patel in the KKR vs CSK clash at the Eden. Patel was signed as a replacement for Vansh Bedi, replacing Shaik Rasheed in the playing XI for MS Dhoni's side.

Urvil Patel plays domestic cricket for Gujarat. He is a wicket-keeper batsman and had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, but he was replaced in the middle of the season trials by Chennai Super Kings alongside Ayush Mhatre.

The CSK franchise called up the 26-year-old Patel to the squad. Before this, Patel was a member of the Gujarat Titans setup in 2023, but he did not get a game. Urvil turns many heads around with his record-breaking run in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Records of Urvil Patel

The keeper-bat scored a stunning 315 runs in six innings at an average of 78.75 and covered a strike rate of nearly 230.

So far, he has hit the most sixes in the competition, smashing 29 hits over the fence.

After him, the next best Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper, Rajat Patidar, with 27, but he did it in 10 innings.

Following the IPL 2025 auction, he grabbed the attention of netizens by scoring a blistering 100 off just 28 balls against Tripura, catching the eye of IPL scouts. During his overall career, with a T20 career strike rate of over 170, he fits perfectly into CSK's plan to inject new energy into their squad.
