IPL 2025: MS Dhoni scripts history with 200 dismissals

MS Dhoni has once again proved that a GOAT will always be a GOAT. Dhoni has once again shown why he is called the greatest wicketkeeper of all time. During the clash between KKR and CSK at the Eden Gardens, the CSK captain was instrumental behind the stumps, changing his side's fortunes.

'Thala', at the age of 43, continued a set of records for wicket-keeping, with one more milestone breached on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

MS Dhoni becomes the first wicketkeeper to take 200 dismissals

On Wednesday, MS Dhoni made history by becoming the first wicket-keeper to record 200 dismissals in the IPL. The 43-year-old had 198 dismissals before the KKR vs CSK match at Eden Gardens.

Dhoni reached the milestone in the 8th over, stumping Sunil Narine after he was caught out of his crease by Noor Ahmad. After two balls later, Dhoni completed his 200th dismissal by catching Angkrish Raghuvanshi behind the stumps.

So far, Dhoni has 153 catches and 47 stumpings to his name, both scored individually, and is one of the most by a keeper in the IPL. After Dhoni, the next best is Dinesh Karthik, who retired last season with RCB.

Karthik currently holds 174 dismissals, including 137 catches and 37 stumpings. Among other active players, Rishabh Pant has 100 dismissals, but he still needs 100 more to compete with MS Dhoni's record.
