Fans of the the latest blockbuster adaptation of Wicked are already mad at one specific scene, while they have made a demand of the film's star .
Wicked releases in cinemas next month but those eagerly anticipating it hitting the big screen have voiced some concerns after a clip was shared online.
The film is a Hollywood version of the popular stage musical which in turn is an adaptation of the novel published in 1995, written by Gregory Maguire.
It is a reimagining of characters and setting of the classic Wizard of Oz, told from the perspective of two witches before Dorothy's arrival in the mystical land.
Singer Ariana Grande is set to feature as Galinda Upland, who becomes Glinda the Good Witch while Cynthia Erivo also stars as Elphaba Thropp, a green-skinned woman who will eventually turn into the Wicked Witch of the West.
A scene posted online revealed a clip of Grande and co-star Jonathan Bailey, singing a segment of the number Dancing Through Life.
While the pair sing and dance with enthusiasm, fans weren't happy with the way the scene looked, according
One posted on social media: "Who is responsible for this lighting?l Looking for even a hint of colour or contrast in this hideous set piece."
Another was just as concerned saying: " 'This lighting is horrendous. This looks like a reality show, not a musical."
However, critics who have attended an early screening for the film have been full of praise, and demanded that Grande be considered for an Oscar.
Reviewers writing for Variety said: "The 31-year-old pop star commands each of Glinda’s signature numbers, including a delightful rendition of Popular. But it’s her knack for comedic timing that makes her so memorable. Her delivery of various one-liners and zingers is one of the film’s highlights, potentially positioning her for a first-time Oscar nomination in the best supporting actress category."
While IndieWire's declaration is sure to get fans excited as they said: "Happy to confirm WICKED is the best musical-to-movie adaptation since CHICAGO and MAMMA MIA. Ariana Grande....is perfection!?" (sic)
Wicked is in cinemas from November 22.
