Here, football.london takes a look at what has been said and reported about Gyokeres' future amid interest from Arsenal.
Transfer admissionGyokeres has conducted an interview with L'Equipe where he opened up about his future with Sporting. The striker offered a hint that his future may lie away from the Portuguese club.
“Maybe," said Gyokeres when asked if he could leave Sporting this summer.
“That's football, you never know. I don't think about it; we'll see what happens.
“If something happens, it will. The most important thing for me is to play for a club that really wants me.”
When asked about the possibility of a move to the Premier League, Gyokeres provided another hint.
“It's one of the biggest leagues in Europe," said Gyokeres in the same interview.
“I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it's something I'd like to do. It would be a great revenge!”
Sporting Lisbon stanceSporting club president Frederico Varandas has spoken about Gyokeres' future, where he also sent a message to clubs interested in the striker. Gyokeres has not returned to pre-season training at Sporting, with Varandas hinting that a punishment may be handed out to the striker.
"We're calm. Everything will be resolved when the window closes, a hefty fine and an apology to the group," Varandas told Agencia Lusa (via Record).
"If they [clubs] don't want to pay the fair market price for Viktor Gyokeres, we will be very comfortable with that for the next three years.
"If someone puts pressure on me to facilitate a departure, they are also making the player's exit even more complicated. Nobody is above the club. Whoever they are."
Arsenal latestArsenal recently stepped up negotiations with Sporting in an effort to agree a deal for Gyokeres.
Sporting are believed to value Gyokeres at around £69million, with the structure of the fee thought to be the main topic of the round of talks taking place.
Arsenal are willing to offer €65million (£56million) as an initial fee plus a further €15million (£13million) in add-ons. However, Sporting are said to be demanding €70million (£60.5million) up front with another €10million (£8.6million) in add-ons.
Personal terms are not thought to be an issue between Arsenal and Gyokeres, with the Gunners needing to agree a fee before a deal can be given the go-ahead.
