ITV's new drama Until I Kill You premiered on Sunday, November 3 with Bafta-winning Anna Maxwell Martin starring as Delia Balmer. Set in the 1990s, the series is based on a memoir written by Delia Balmer herself where she documents her violent relationship with John Sweeney, one of Britain's most notorious murderers.

Within minutes of the real-life drama starting, viewers wasted no time in sharing their delight as actor Shaun Evans takes centre stage in the series.

Serial killer John Sweeney is played by Evans, a 44-year-old English actor best known for playing a young Endeavour Morse in the series Endeavour. The Liverpudlian star is also known for his appearances in Vigil and Teachers.

The ITV drama is based on a true story and follows retired nurse Delia Balmer, now in her 70s, who first met Sweeney in a local pub - but the pair's relationship quickly deteriorated with Sweeney's dark past coming to light.

After moving into Delia's home, Sweeney began his tirade of abuse, even keeping Delia hostage for four days by tying her to her bed and threatening her.

In a near-fatal attack, he charged at her with an axe and knife, causing life-changing injuries which would take Delia years to overcome. The relationship culminates in a number of life-threatening attacks on Delia which she barely survives.

Sharing their excitement at seeing Evans back on screen, one viewer wrote: "Oh, is Shaun Evans our creepy guy here? And in his original Scouse accent? Bring it. #UntilIKillYou."

A second stated: "Shaun Evans? That'll do for me. #UntilIKillYou", while a third chimed in: "You had me at Shaun Evans #UntilIKillYou."

"#ShaunEvans is always brilliant. He never disappoints. Not sure I want to see him as the bad guy #UntilIKillYou", added another.
