Tiger King star Joe Exotic is engaged to fellow inmate as he issues loved-up announcement

The controversial character, 61, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, took to X/ on October 28 to announce the news. In the post, he formally introduced his partner, who is "so amazing", before revealing that they’re figuring out their plans to get married.

Sharing a snap of the couple, Joe wrote: “Meet Jorge Marquez, he is 33. He is so amazing and is from Mexico. Now, the quest of getting married in prison and getting him asylum, or we be leaving America when we both get out. Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.”

Joe Exotic has been married twice. In 2021, his ex-husband, Dillon Passage, confirmed he was divorcing the star after three years of marriage.

“Yes, Joe and I are seeking a divorce," he penned at the time. “This wasn’t an easy decision to make but Joe and I both understand that this situation isn’t fair to either of us. It’s something that neither of us were expecting but we are going to take it day by day.”

The former zoo owner was also married to Travis Maldonado, who tragically died from a self-inflicted, accidental gunshot wound in 2017.

Joe, who rose to fame in the hit documentary , is currently serving 21 years at a federal prison in Oklahoma. In 2020, the star was convicted of trying to hire two men to kill animal activist Carole Baskin as well as abusing animals at his private zoo.

The blonde bombshell - who has always maintained his innocence - was arrested after he offered an undercover FBI agent $10,000 (£7,900) to kill Carole, who runs a sanctuary for big cats in Florida.

In March 2023, Joe stunned fans when he announced he would be running for president in 2024. Taking to social media, he said: "It’s official! I am now a candidate for President of the United States in 2024."

Some of his followers were confused by the post, wondering if Joe would be released from prison early. However, clarifying he would be running his "campaign" from behind bars, he wrote in a statement on the jail's website: "Yes, I know I am in federal prison and you might think this is a joke but it’s not. It is my Constitutional right to do this even from here."

Earlier this year, the Netflix star made an unexpected plea to Kourtney Kardashian to tell her legal eagle sister, Kim, to get him out of prison. Joe’s bizarre comment - on the Kardashian star’s snap of her cradling her new baby with Travis Barker - read: "Awwww cute, also please have your sister help me get out of this hell hole."
