Nigella Lawson stars in Greggs' Christmas ad despite her 'sausage roll snub'

has signed up to star in ad campaign - but declined to put her face to their famous sausage rolls.

It is said the TV cook, 64, recently filmed the outside a London home, featuring fairy lights and fake snow. The celebrity food writer, famed for her cheeky culinary commentary is believed to have put her name to the high-street bakery chain's festive flatbread and lunch baguette.

But she reportedly drew the line at Greggs's popular pastry porkers, of which the bakery sells more than two million each week in the UK. A source is understood to have told : "Nigella is a huge name in the culinary , so were thrilled when she agreed to front their festive campaign. She wasn't keen on putting her face to their sausage rolls though, and agreed to take part just to push their festive fare.

"As well as their Christmas lunch baguette and their festive flatbread, Nigella is highlighting a special chocolate doughnut. Despite the sausage roll snub, Greggs couldn't be happier to have such a haute cuisine heavyweight on board."

The has contacted both Greggs and Nigella Lawson for comment. Filming for the advert did, though, take place in Ealing, west London, and is believed to have captured Nigella with Greggs products amidst the festive decor and artificial snow.

The Nigella Effect has famously boosted sales of ingredients from goose fat to prunes when the star used them in her telly recipes. But she is picky with her advertising deals.

In 2022, the TV chef teamed up with Ocado and launched a curated aisle of Nigella Loves products, as well as a range of recipes. This year she launched the search for Britain's best beekeepers, with the winner's honey to be stocked at .

Last week, the national treasure, born in Wandsworth, southwest London, revealed . Nigella even went as far as calling the dish "the food of the gods" in an interview where she also praised the culinary method of deep frying.
