Max Dowman became Arsenal Under 21s' youngest scorer in Premier League 2 history after finding the net in their dramatic win against Wolves.

The 15-year-old sensation, who made his first-team debut for Mikel Arteta's side last month, struck in the second half at Boreham Wood's Meadow Park as the Gunners came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 on Saturday.

Goals from Tawanda Chirewa and Mateus Mane had put Wolves in a commanding position, but Arsenal showed grit and determination to launch a late fightback and secure their first back-to-back victories of the season.

Andre Harriman-Annous sparked the comeback with just over half an hour to go, before Dowman finished off a sublime solo run to level the game. Dowman cut outside onto his right foot before chopping back onto his left and sliding a low finish beyond the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Forward Harriman-Annous, 17, then scored his second of the game and the eventual match-winner, keeping his cool from the penalty spot to fire home in the 99th minute.

This wasDowman's first appearance for Arsenal's academy this season after being involved with the club's first team for the opening month of the campaign. He featured for 26 minutes in the 5-0 drubbing against Leeds United, grabbing an assist in the process, before coming on in the 89th minute at Liverpool.

He was named on the bench to face Nottingham Forest and Athletic Club after the international break, but remained as an unused substitute in both matches.

The Gunners host Manchester City in a blockbuster affair at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and Dowman could be once again involved in the matchday squad, having made clear to Arteta he is ready for more action.

But with Bukayo Saka facing a race against time to be available, the teenager's chances of getting some game time could be reduced.

Saka, 24, hasn't featured since last month's win at home to Leeds after injuring his hamstring. At the time, Arteta said that the England international would be out for a "couple of weeks".

He missed the trip to Liverpool, both World Cup qualifiers during the September international break and the most recent two matches since the two-break hiatus. There have been rumours that Saka could return for Arsenal's clash with City and Arteta hinted that he could be back available.

When asked about Saka and Ben White, both of whom didn't feature against Athletic Club, Arteta said in his pre-match press conference on Friday: "If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow's session as they haven't done anything yet, so we'll have more information tomorrow."

White was back on the bench for the Forest game following a knock, but he was left out of the matchday squad for the midweek Champions League win at San Mames with an unspecified issue.
