James Maddison breaks silence on Tottenham injury after Europa League substitution

That goal proved to be the vital one that saw Spurs progress to the semi-final stage of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate score-line.

The flashpoint, however, saw Maddison have to be replaced by Dejan Kulusevski after receiving treatment on the pitch. The midfielder has now referenced the injury in a social media post on Friday.

He shared a picture of himself with his two dogs in his Instagram story and added the caption: "Anyone else wake up a bit sore this morning COYS," along with laughing, praying hands and white heart emojis.

. "I think he's fine," he said. "I was talking to him after, and he'll gladly take that.

"So courageous. I thought the boy was lucky to stay on the pitch, to be honest. It could very easily have been a red card, but it looks like it's nothing too serious. I'm sure whatever he's feeling has been numbed by the joy of winning the game!"
