Inside Escape to the Country's Sonali Shah's life in London and embracing motherhood

Escape to the Country is back on BBC One, with Sonali Shah on a mission to find the perfect home for one hopeful family.

The British TV and radio broadcaster was born in London and has since established her own family in the city.

Her parents owned a pharmacy and she trained as a dancer during her childhood. It wasn't until her university years that she considered a career in journalism.

Before this, she had aspirations of a career in medicine, even presenting on the local hospital radio. Since then, she has hosted programmes on World News, Newsround and BBC Radio 2.

She resides in London with her husband Adarsh and their children - her daughter Ariana was born in October 2013 and her son Rafi was born in October 2016, reports .

After the birth of her first child, she expressed how she had taken on "the most important job I'll ever have".

On her personal blog, she wrote alongside some selfies featuring her bump: "Three weeks ago I took on the most important job I'll ever have I became a mum to a baby girl we have named Ariana."

"During my the last few days of my , I was inspired by Buenos Aires-based photographer Sophie Starzenski who had taken these stunning snaps of her growing bump over her pregnancy."

"I love photographing other people but these are my first ever selfies I took them when I was 39 weeks pregnant and then with a 3 week old Ariana."

Ariana just turned 11, and to mark the occasion, Sonali treated her to the Crystal Maze experience. Sharing the fun on , Ariana said she had "so much fun" and expressed gratitude to the organisers for an "action-packed adventure".

The couple has been united in matrimony for at least 14 years, having exchanged vows back in 2008.

In a chat with Express.co.uk, Sonali once revealed details about her dual wedding dresses for her nuptials to Adarsh, explaining, "I spent two weeks in Mumbai and designed them myself. Saris are the closest things I have to couture."
