The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement captured the attention of gamers, but it's taken time for details of where to buy the console to be revealed.
After a slew of leaks that seemingly stole 's thunder at the start of the year, we're starting to see pre-order pages land, and I raced to order one myself. Yesterday's showed what the company can deliver regarding great announcements and hardware to back them up. A combination of hardware features and great-looking games means that Nintendo might have a huge winner on its hands.
So naturally, I wanted to pre-order as soon as possible - and so did my partner. But according to Nintendo, we had to wait until next week to get one - and we had to have the privilege of being invited to grab one. So I scoured sites for alternative options, and got lucky with Smyths Toys and

says you have to have two years of continuous Nintendo Switch Online membership, a certain amount of playtime and purchases, and sign up to certain emails. I thought I was in for a shot, but I've seen or heard anything about anyone getting an invite.
It also wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. It seems Nintendo has decided to raise the price of its games. £74.99 for a physical edition of Mario Kart World seems excessively steep and you'll also have to pay £66.99 for the new Donkey Kong Bananza, which is absolutely extortionate.

Nintendo has raised the bar when it comes to game prices - and we might see a bit of a domino effect on other games later on in 2025. But will I still buy them? Most likely because I've always believed game prices have been massively stagnant for years and if it means we can get better games, then I'm all for paying a bit more.
But late last night, one store surprised me. opened up pre-orders for both the console and the Mario Kart World bundle out of the blue. Rushing to the link, I saw that the console was sold out, but I managed to snag a bundle with Mario Kart World. Score!
In fact, if you're quick, Argos has released pre-orders for the console today. You can check the and the Mario Kart World bundle - although stock my fly off the shelves quickly.
UPDATE: Argos has sold out as of now but that you can shop for.
If you want to pre-order any accessories, You can see all the accessories including the new Pro controller and the USB-C camera Amazon with invites. You can request an invite to buy the console
Here's a list of stores to keep an eye on:
I fully expect more stores to start releasing more pre-orders this week now that the floodgates are open - but from what I've seen so far, demand for these consoles is fierce and it may prove tricky to get a hold of.
